XL 56

Pictured here is the Series XL 56. This lathe has the 10⅛” Swing with a Standard 1⅜” through hole spindle capable of the 5C collet closer. 36" between centers. This series Sheldon lathe was and still is one of the most popular lathes made by The Sheldon Machine Co.

B = Base or in this case the Cabinet Model

This lathe here is my personal favorite of the 10” models aside from the Variable Speed Lathes. Other then the type of drive and the Base this is the same as above & below

P = Pedestal Base Model

Just like the other XL Series Sheldon’s this one is the same other than the Base. They come in the 56” Bed Length, which is 36” between centers or e 46” Bed, which is 26” between centers
