Sheldon CR Automatic Chucker
This Machine came with 9 automatic
workstations, thus eliminating the need for a Second Operation
Machine. The turret (pictured below) is mounted on a slide with 8
automatic stations, and combined with the Programmable Cross
Slide. Made this Machine very completive with the Hardinge AHC,
including the exactness, which Hardinge produced. Sheldon never
made it as big as Hardinge, but produced quite remarkable
machines, and should not be overlooked even to this day.
This Machine here indexed accurately within
.000025 and the Slide error is limited to .0004 in a 6” Travel.
Depth control was held .0002 or less.
This
is an extremely precision Machine with high production
capabilities.
