I am often asked "What year is
my Mill?" To determine this you need to first establish the
serial of your machine. The photo below shows you the exact location of
your machines serial number. Please note that the numbers & dates in
the table below are only good for Series 1 Standard, Standard Series II Standard , Special & Trak II
Milling Machines.
Every Bridgeport Milling Machine has it's Serial number stamped here!
Writing this, I do realize that the head is also numbered, but that will
not help you determine the correct age of your machine. You must follow
these guidelines in order to find out the D.O.B of your machine.
Remember that these are only for
the Series 1 Standard, Series II Standard , Special & Trak II Miller. They do not include the Series 1
Line-A-Mills, or Synchro-Trace-Duplicators. I have seen many Bridgeport's
for sale including ones that I have sold that are former Line-A-Mills
& former Synchro trace machines which have been converted into Series
1 Standards & the below table does not correctly apply to those
machines.
