Around 1936 the Model M Head began to take shape. It was a new and improved version of the Model C

Bridgeport Model M "Master Drilling & Boring Head" pictured below was the new & improved design to the Model C & came with a few more distinct design changes that included 1/2 H.P Motor, with three matched pairs of spindle bearings. Three spindle tapers a Morse 2, B&S #7, & the Standard B-3. A Quill travel of 3 ½”, & two different heads altogether. The first was the standard 6 pulley with spindle RPM's of 275, 425, 700, 1050, 2100, 4250.

The other was the double pulley version. The housing was twice as tall & and gave the operator the extra speeds of 950, 1350, 2200, 3250, 6500, 12000. There were actually several different experimental versions made but since those engineers are all gone now it is hard to tell what they were

The Model C head pictured below or (Master Milling Attachment) came about in the late 1920's & was produced by Bridgeport Pattern & Mold Works as an attachment to other popular Vertical & Horizontal machines in 1932.

The Master Milling Attachment came with a 1/4 H.P. motor with 6 spindle speed 465, 675, 1000, 1500, 2140, 4250. The quill taper was B-3. These heads included two matched sets of spindle bearings

The Master Milling Machine has a counter balanced spindle & quill, which provides the operator a fine sensitivity fell while milling, & especially drilling & boring.
